German Group 5 Championship 1980.

Instead of retiring from the sport, Hans Heyer drove a Gerhard Schneider (GS Tuning of Fribourg) prepared car with sponsoring from German Fiat and Fruit of the Loom. This was chassis 1001, later destroyed at the Norisring; GS was also constructing a new car (1008), delivered in June, for later in the season. The German regulations demand a heavier car so the extra weight is going into making the car stiffer. The engine had about 440 bhp at 1.55 bar.

Car colour light blue.

1982 race season.

After winning the 1979, 1980 and 1981 World Championships for makes, the changes in regulations forced Lancia to go another route for championships.

This was the first year for Group C cars, but for the Drivers Championship Lancia built the LC1, a new Group 6 barchetta, with the proven 1.4 engine with single turbo. This car only weighed 640kg and with 450 bhp and full ground-effect could be very fast. Sponsoring came from Martini and MS cigarettes.

Privately entered were also 2 of last years works Group 5 cars: 1009 + 1005, bought with 5 engines/gearboxes by Scuderia Sivama di Galliate for Daniele Audetto's Vesuvio Racing with sponsoring from Computer Systems and Alitalia.
